Tsumami Kanzashi

I saw this the other day on one of the Japanese artisan webpages and was awestruck as to how beautiful simple pieces of fabric can be when they're layered and folded. Since I suck at sewing, I decided I would mimic the technique using clay. Two hours and clump of clay later, and voila!

I'm not sure how this would look on hair, but they are my first attempts, so please be gentle. x_____x I'm trying to improve on it... honest!

Made with Fimo clay, colored with pastel sticks, unglazed as of today because I'm not sure if I want to yet, and crochet thread (can't... find... affordable... ribbon!!!)

Dimensions: the pin iteslf is about 3" long, while the flowers are approximately 1"
